JESSICA BAKER
What's your superpower? / What do you want it to be?
If I could have a super power it would be to fly! I've gotten close to flying with my aerial dance, but being able to glide over the beauty of our world would be incredible.
How do you express gratitude?
I try to take a moment each day to be silent and meditate on at least one thing I am grateful for that day. In our busy world, it's easy to take things for granted, but when we choose to take a moment, slow down, and breathe gratitude becomes abundant. I'm also a huge believer in old fashioned thank you notes! I'm working on that right now in my life!
Why do you share yoga?
Why not share yoga? I feel yoga makes me a better person, and teaching gives me more purpose than words could ever express. I feel yoga has become a part of me, and by not sharing it I would be missing a part of my soul.
What's your favorite pose? Why?
Ardha chandrasana and chopasana variation is always a staple in my practice. I love that I get hamstrings, hip opening, strength, stability, and with the variation even a little backbending.
When was the last time you laughed out loud?
My family always makes me laugh at loud. Whenever I am with them (which is several times a week) I will at some point be in complete hysterics.
What always makes you smile?
My little one can always make me smile even when I'm sad. There's something about children that can bring light in even the darkest moments.
What does flow mean to you?
Flow to me means continuous and congruent movement. Flow should feel like yummy medicine to your body.
What can our TGY friends expect from your class?
You can always expect a fun, playful practice. I love to laugh when teaching, and give people a fun environment with no judgement to try new and positive experiences.
I have been teaching for over six years, with my 200 hour certification with Yoga Medicine from Tiffany Cruikshank. I'm currently working towards 500 hours, as assist as part of the Yoga Medicine crew at teacher trainings and festivals around the globe.
